Uruma Dojo Student Guidelines
In Japanese, discipline (Shugyou) means to conduct your studies daily. This is very difficult to do for anyone including myself. Nevertheless, try to follow these guidelines as best as possible.
1. Understand the practical and the profound meaning of
TAKEMUSUAIKI.
The literal translation is create technique (TAKEMUSU)jengage, meet, unite, and connect with your heart and soul, maturity (AIKn. TAKEMUSU also can mean create answer or solve a problem and AIKI as courageously facing it with your heart or maturity. In either case it is self generated from within not something external or separate.
The profound meaning is: It is the design and function of our universe and nature which functions without force and does not

2. Believe in TAKEMUSUAIKI. The founder defines the human body as a miniature version of this ideology. The great actions that we have the potential to create (KI) must come from great source which is our Will Power or our superior conscious or our maturity.
3. Uphold the seven virtues of Respect (consideration &

who they are), Cour9:~ (act with maturity; think of your actions reflecting on others), Honor (always place someone good or some good ideology of conduct before your seW, Loyalty (never betray someone good or good ideology which are truly honorable), Compassion (know and feel pain & sufferings of others as your own and act upon it).
4. Engage in meditation. Find a quiet comfortable place preferably in the early morning and conduct meditation either sitting in seiza or cross-legged or lying down. Take the time to give your body and mind a rest that they deserve. Use your breathing to connect with your body organs and your mind. Breathe in to send in the good and breathe out to release the negative. It doesn't matter 5 minutes or 1 hour, you should try to find the time.
5. Practice diligently. Do the above as often as you can.
6. Reduce your attachments. The more you are attached to things the more it will keep you away from what is important. Aikido is detachment (KU-freedom, empowerment, independence). Take care of all your administrative responsibilities.
7. Reflect on one's self. Make time to examine your se]£; am I doing the correct things, do I need to change, am I studying hard, am I praying for everyone's happiness, am I regarding myself as a world citizen, am I forgiving, am I careful not to waste time, am I sincere?
